Chaos in zehlendorf: hertha’s stadium misery fuels regionalliga fury
Berlin’s Regionalliga Nordost is simmering with frustration. Hertha 03 Zehlendorf’s unprecedented four postponed home matches, all due to an unplayable pitch at the Stadion Lichterfelde, have ignited a firestorm of criticism from rival clubs and the regional football association (NOFV). The situation is more than just a scheduling headache; it’s a question of fairness and the integrity of the competition.
The unhappy return to lichterfelde
After two years spent playing elsewhere while their home ground, the Ernst-Reuter-Sportfeld, underwent renovations to meet Regionalliga standards, Hertha 03 Zehlendorf finally returned to Lichterfelde. The initial excitement, however, quickly soured as repeated postponements due to the deteriorating pitch became the norm. The scheduled match against Chemie Leipzig on Tuesday evening (7 p.m.) marks the fifth attempt to stage the fixture.

“A distortion of competition” – chemie leipzig’s outrage
Stefan Schilde, spokesperson for Chemie Leipzig, minced no words in expressing his club’s displeasure. “The sheer number of postponements is an outrage for us,” he stated. He highlighted the logistical and financial burden placed on his club and its supporters, who have been forced to travel to Berlin repeatedly.
